Cambridge BID launches Independent Retailer Month by @Cambridgebid #IndieMonth

Cambridge BID, in partnership with Cambridge Edition, are delighted to be launching Independent Retailer Month on Thursday July 4th.  Running throughout July, this annual initiative is part of a global ‘shop local’ campaign, designed to highlight the important role that smaller, independent retailers play in their communities. For four weeks, the public will be encouraged to explore and celebrate Cambridge’s diverse selection of Independents – and take advantage of a plethora of special offers, as well as competitions and events.

Cambridge BID is working with a wide range of Independent Businesses to celebrate Independent Retailer Month this July

A number of businesses are hosting events, running special offers and promotions during July to encourage people to explore, shop and celebrate the offer we have here in Cambridge.”

She goes on to say ‘This year the response from the businesses has been great, and for the first time we have a number of retailers pulling together on collaborative offers.  For example, Rose Crescent businesses are working together to host their own street party on Saturday 6th July and stores on Sussex Street, Hobson Street and King Street are running a competition to give one lucky shopper a chance to win £100 to spend in the store of their choice’

Independent retailers are vital to Cambridge City Centre

Hal Wilson, Managing Director at Cambridge Wine Merchants says ‘Promoting independent retailers in Cambridge is vital to the sustainability of the City Centre. We all want to maintain the unique character of the place.  An initiative like Independent Retailer Month gives smaller businesses a platform to promote their products and services under one larger marketing umbrella.’
